Well done to our residents and staff who created a colourful Abbotsleigh Showstopper Cake for The Great Nellsar Cake Off competition, featuring a heart, stethoscope and Home logos. The delicious layered sponge cake was a feast for the eyes and the tastebuds!
Our Recreation and Well-Being Team commented;
“Look how talented our residents, Chef and Deputy Manger are! Between all of us we created a wonderful and super tasty three layered cake! We decided to go for a three tiered cake to incorporate our residents’ favourite flavours; the bottom layer combined three chocolate sponges with chocolate custard in-between, followed by two vanilla sponges (these were a little special as they were for our diabetic residents) and finally the top layer which was a beautiful raspberry sponge. We also used lots of vanilla flavouring and rum essence.
Our residents helped to make the whipped cream and buttercream, and helped ice the cakes. Diana, our lovely Deputy Manager, made the stethoscope, heart, rainbow and Nellsar logo and Alex our talented Chef put all the finishing touches to our cake.
Then we all got to enjoy a slice and it was absolutely scrumptious! We decided to incorporate The Great Nellsar Bake Off with our wonderful Tracey Hampton’s ‘Brave the Shave’.”
