VE Day party
We had the best VE Day celebrations here at Abbotsleigh Care Home last week, as we partied ALL DAY!
We were lucky enough to have the amazingly talented Jasmin to sing and entertain our residents in the morning from a distance. Her beautiful voice captured our hearts as she sang wartime classics.
Our ladies and gents enjoyed cakes, sandwiches and a good old cuppa and one of our residents and his family shared a special story. Reg R was actually in Belgium when VE Day was announced and he took the picture below; he told us that he climbed up the lamppost to get the best shot!
Continuing our celebrations into the afternoon, we had the wonderful Kevin Walsh visit (from afar) to sing for us, wearing his old fireman uniform to really look the part! His fan club at Abbotsleigh was over the moon that he came to perform for us.
It was lovely to see how involved all our staff got. What a fantastic finish to a perfect day !
Games, crafts and walks
We’ve also been keeping our minds sharp recently with word searches and spot the differences with our residents, which are harder than you think!
We made a lovely big heart to go on our display board and enjoyed some lovely walks with our residents within our beautiful grounds.
Happy birthday Colin
We enjoyed celebrating our lovely Colin M’s birthday too. Colin turned 87 years young last week and absolutely loved the Black Forest gateau cake we made him, not to mention the whiskey hamper sent in by his daughter!
