Bad weather this past week has kept us indoors here at Abbotsleigh Care Home, so we’ve been enjoying indoor pursuits including playing games of Scrabble, and doing puzzles and crosswords.
Resident Jeremy had a very nice birthday celebration with lots of lovely cards to open and a fantastic chocolate cake, which he very much enjoyed.
We’ve also had a Smells from the Garden session which included a game of ‘Do You Remember what this is?‘ experiencing herbs such as Rosemary, Verbena, Thyme, Lavender and Basil, which was wonderful for our senses.
We’ve been creating autumn decorations – turning various leaves into pretty seasonal wreathes to display.
Reverend Silke came to host a Harvest Festival Service from our local church and we got to sing our favourite hymn ‘All things bright and beautiful’, which was chosen by our residents.
Singer Keeley also visited us to perform ‘songs from years gone by‘, which provided a lovely opportunity for our residents to reminisce and join in.
Last but not least, our wonderful PAT dog Ruben came to visit. We always enjoy his calm and friendly nature, and he always loves the attention from so many fans!
