Abbotsleigh Care Home’s wonderful Recreation and Well-Being Team Member Tracey Hampton braved the shave for Macmillan Cancer Support on Friday 25 September.
Tracey, who has been with us for 13 years, faced the chop at Abbotsleigh’s Hair Salon and her sponsorship will now go towards the millions of pounds needed to pay for Macmillan Nurses, who support people living with cancer.
Shell, Recreation and Well Being Team-Lead said:
“Tracey decided to brave the shave for Macmillan Cancer Support because it’s a cause very close to her heart. Here at Abbotsleigh Care Home, a lot of us have been affected by cancer within our own families and friendship groups or residents we have cared for. Tracey will be rocking some funky hats over the colder months to keep her head warm! Tracey’s head shave has encouraged us to start a knitting circle – with our expert knitters here – to knit Tracey a few bobble hats for the winter!”
Speaking after the shave, Tracey said:
“I feel liberated and proud to have raised such a large sum of money for Macmillan. This will help families at this very sad time – just to have someone at the end of the phone to talk to and listen to them.”
We are really proud of you Tracey – a massive well done!
